Here in germany are some Drs who really know what
they are talking about, when it comes to CH.
My Dr. jumped right into the matter after the diagnose
was made. He accepted my print of the Clusterheadache info
from the medical section of this great site. He asked me to
return within two days and he read the stuff.
We talked about the medication and he asked me, what
I knew about the treatment from this side.
Well, I left the Dr's office with a prescription for
Verapamil and Imigran Inject.
No problems with getting new medication when it was used up.
He sent me to a specialist for headaches.
The treatment was confirmed and they came up with the Oxygen
treatment as well.
They accept the secerity of the pain as given, since
they are not able to "know" them.
The verapamil helped i the first cycles, right now it doesn't help.
My Dr will wait, how I come out of the clinic, if it is ok, he will wait
for me to return in the next cycle. If it still is not ok, we will go
on Lithium.
The Pharmacist where I get the Imigran always had to order it, because
he didn't have it on stock. After I was there for about 6 times in es many
weeks he took care of being stocked with one refill for me.
After I switched from the autoinject pen to the syringe system he asked me
if it would be too much trouble telling him about my experiences with
them the next time I come in.
After reading so many posts about the way Drs and even pharmacists treat
CH sufferers I am glad I live in Germany.
I guess I will try to get the first contacts here in Germany started with
some people who know about CH for the time OUCH gets "on line".
And of course I will keep you posted on the results of the treatment
in the clinic.
