Dear JohnP,
I echo what Drummer said about medications not working after a while, and what Katie said about starting Neurontin slowly. My doc said Neurontin can actually cause siezures if you jump into it too fast.
I take 900mg Neurontin upon arising (about 5 a.m.) and another 900mg about 1:30 p.m. I don't take an evening dose because everytime I do I get a CH right after. I also take Zoloft 100mg upon arising, and inject 1mg DHE-45 in a muscle upon arriving home in the evening. This keeps the daytime headaches away and keeps me down to maybe 3 CH a week. If one breaks through I use another 1mg DHE-45 or inhale some Stadol if I have been using a lot of DHE. A couple of jolts of Stadol works for me. Makes me absolutely loony and I crash, but it takes the pain away for at least 2 hours.
For me, the Neurontin does nothing to reduce the pain. I do believe it works with the Zoloft to reduce the number of CH attacks I have. My normal unmedicated self gets 5 a day at 45 minutes apiece.
Good luck, and NO PAIN to you!
John
