A few yrs ago in my seeking a diag and some relief I saw Dr. r. Goodman at the neurological Ctr at Columbia Pres Hosp in NYC. He is a neurosurgeon with a speciality in pain mngt. He got up from his desk and ran a small metal pinwheel across my cheek. He said if you had TN then you would be hysterical now from the pain. It is my understanding that little can trigger a TN attack, even a breeze or the slightest touch, the remedy is a nerve block as a last resort. I did Tegretol for a while and had a toxic reaction because I took too much. It distorted my depth perception, and my vision was "flipping" like watching a film strip that was stuck. It for me was such a sedating drug.
