During a cycle, I usually get the "shadow" pains as soon as I wake up or within an hour. The headache comes within two hours, usually. The only time I get them during sleep is if I sleep too late, and even then it's rare.
Also, during one cycle I was getting them at exactly 8:35am every day for several days in a row. My alarm woke me up at 6:00am every day, and I never thought to set my alarm for, say 5:30, and see if the attacks came at 8:05. Has anybody else tried this? One thing I have learned, though, is that even though these headaches sometimes seem predictable, at other times they will be just as unpredictable.
