Hi Greg,
My husband has been using those gel-filled ice bags for a long time to bring down the pain. I keep three in the freezer at all times and he puts one inside a tea towel and lays it on the back of his neck. He says it slows down the blood flow, thus lowering the pressure and the pain. He swears by them. He will also apply them directly to his face to fight the sinus pain.
