Glad to see the subject of lithium come up. I have been on lithium 900 mg/day for a few years, and it has been a godsend for me. Along with 75 mg of indocin daily, lithium has basically changed my chronic CHs into episodic...one or two two to three week episodes per year. With o2 and imitrex during those tough times, along with the prednisone taper, I feel that it is about as good as I'm going to get. And, although I did the "pass the patient" with Dr., Neuros, tests, etc., it was an excellent physicians assistant who had the knowledge and character to make a difference for me. Oh yeah, lithium can effect thyroid function...need to keep an eye on that.
Question...am I in the minority of those that get some relief from lithium, or have many of you tried it without success, or is it just not prescribed much? I don't see the subject come up on the board as much as other meds.
Keep up the vigil, all. Tonight I'm hoping for two nights pain-free in a row. That will set a record for the last month.
