Stories like this make me sick. I know, unfortunately,
that your school is not an isolated incident as far as
policies toward drugs.
As other posters have mentioned, you need to get
a doctor to write a prescription for any medication
you need to be on. And, as I know from personal
experience, you need to have that medication VERY
close by--not in the nurse's office. The prescription
should clearly state this. Also, you might want
to Xerox a description of what it's like to go
through a cluster attack, and hand it with the prescription
to the school authorities. (Maybe this web site has
such a description.) I've found this to be very
effective. At first I was ashamed of my headaches, then I decided
to "come out of the closet." People thought the
headaches were so strange, and I totally agreed with
them. They ARE strange, and terrible, and painful. And
nothing to be ashamed of, or to hide.
