Bobbie -
According to Lee Kudrow, who did a study on possible cluster headache: "It is also unlikely that cluster headache is genetically transmitted, since the incidence of this disorder among patients is small, 2 - 6 per cent."
Goadsby has written a book on cluster reasearch and treatment, which will be published in November. Perhaps he will have more information on the genetics.
I agree with you - it's doubly hard (ore more) to see your children suffer.
My best to both of you,
Erik
People react very differently to Imitrex. Here in 'the old world' it's named Imigran, but as both have sumatriptan as the active ingredient they should be the same stuff. My sister suffers from migraine and reacts just like your daughter to Imigran. I use 100 mg of Imigran, but can't take a dose more than twice in 24 hours. More than that, and I get nausea, slight vertigo, and my brain stops working properly. For unknown reason some persons react more to pills than injections and nasal spray. All should be tried to see what works and what not.
