The active ingredient in hot peppers is capsaicin, which is available in non-prescription medical creme, and which has been shown in a few studies to help clusters. Once every month or two, I apply a small amount in the nostril on the cluster side of the head two or three times a day, repeating until there's no burning sensation anymore.
It doesn't prevent clusters for me, or abort #10's, but it does help cut the background pain ("shadows") which occur between major headaches.
