This is not a very scientific explanation, but simply my experience. I had months of shadows following my last bout. Everyone is different, but in my case they just diminished to a point where I could barely feel them. Then they would occur less frequently and without a certain rhythm. Finally they left.
I viewed the shadows as a slowly dying beast - a temptation to waste an imitrex pill.
I hope that for you, it's just a sign that the cluster is slowly leaving.
