MEMBERS ALERT!
The BOD is working on a review of the Bylaws and trying to see where they need to be rewritten or changed to meet the suggestions that have been voiced at convention and on the MB. I've just spent about 18 hours going thru them word for word and putting down my suggestions for the BOD, as I'm sure all the BOD has been doing this weekend since this is a priority. OUCH legal counsel will then tell us what we CAN do with what we hand him AFTER we get it together and give to him, so we comply with all the legalities we have to comply with.
Now, I don't think we need to take up space on the MB with a list of bylaws (they are rather boring), but anyone having suggestions for revisions, now is the TIME to let the BOD know what you'd like to see in them. But keep in mind, this will have to go through legal counsel and we will have to comply with the legalities for a nonprofit corporation.
Also, the BOD is working on a long range organizational plan to ensure that OUCH will continue to operate on a sound business basis. Also very boring stuff, but time consuming. Anyone with suggestions is welcome to offer them, but again I really don't think the MB is the place to take this up because of all the legalities involved.
None of your officers or directors is trying to keep anything from any member - and I've tried to answer every e-mail I've received. I don't remember ever not answering one unless my secretary erased it before I saw it (she does sometimes when she doesn't realize what it is, but I think I have that problem solved now).
One of the suggestions we've received is to set up a list of Guidelines for the convention committee to work from. I think this is a marvelous idea. This would not be written in concrete, but would give the committee an idea of where to start and what's expected of them insofar as planning a convention. They wouldn't be going into it cold turkey. BUT there's the problem of WHO wants to do it. Elaine, you've done an OUCH convention. Would you volunteer to to write up the guidelines from your experience? Next question - would you get your feelings hurt if more things were added to the guidelines as someone else thought of something else to add or delete? I think TEAMWORK is the key to the whole of OUCH and that's what we all need to keep in mind.
Right now, that's what the BOD is working on. Suggestions, discussion, or whatever is welcome.
